About
MNFRAC
We're
Working to Promote Responsible Animal Care.
Our mission is to build consumer confidence in animal
care and product quality and safety by educating about
and promoting responsible animal care in production,
processing and research.
The
Minnesota Foundation for Responsible Animal Care was
established to serve as a voice of reason amidst the
sometimes confusing rhetoric of animal welfare issues.
We believe strongly in animal welfare. Society has a
moral obligation to provide humane treatment for animals
and to protect them from suffering.
Animals provide immense benefits to society. With responsible
care, animals can meet human needs for food, clothing
and medical breakthroughs. These needs are met in ways
that respect animal welfare. And they continue without
jeopardy to the many industries that are dedicated to
humane animal care.
The Foundation represents a broad cross-section of agricultural
organizations as well as businesses and the veterinary medicine
community. The Board includes professionals from many of Minnesota's
major animal industries to assure balance and full representation. We
are dedicated to responsible animal care and to presenting
an accurate, positive image of our industry's efforts toward
providing humane treatment. With your support, we will be
successful!
The
Foundation for Responsible Animal Care will carry out
its mission by concentrating on three major activities:
1) Humane Animal Care
- Comprehensive
educational programs to inform the public and opinion
leaders about humane practices. We focus on the
fact that humane animal care benefits the animals
as well as the people of our society.
- Support
of research efforts for continued improvement in
the humane treatment of animals.
- Support
of research efforts for improvement in the production
of animals.
2)
Safe, Wholesome Food Supply
-
Support of research efforts for improvement in the
production and processing of safe, wholesome products
that help feed, clothe and shelter our society.
- Educational
programs to inform and reassure the public about
food safety and the quality of animal products.
3)
Environmental Stewardship
-
Educational programs providing research information
on the economic, social and environmental contribution
of animal agriculture. We will demonstrate how animals
meet the world's continuing need for clothing, shelter,
food, recreation and medical cures.
